St. Charles, Illinois – The Sidwell Company is pleased to announce that they will be holding a one-day GIS User Group event at the Holiday Inn Airport in Des Moines, Iowa on January 22, 2009. This meeting is open to anyone interested in GIS and its applications for local government. Attendees will learn from a pair of veteran former government officials with more than 50 years collective experience about how GIS can be used in local government to plan, analyze, communicate, and support the decision making process. The day will be broken into four sessions, including: “Making GIS Work for You”, “Improving the Process of Farmland Assessment”, “GIS for Officeholders”, and a final session featuring a case study on Butler County, Iowa and how they used GIS in disaster management in 2008.
The sessions begin at 9:00 am and conclude around 3:30 pm, and lunch will be provided. Visit www.sidwellco.com to get information on lodging and view the complete agenda. Online registration will be available on Sidwell’s website beginning January 5, 2009.
