St. Charles, IL - Davis County, Utah, is located in the northern part of the state and is bounded by the Great Salt Lake on the west, and the Wasatch Range on the east. In their search to find a more efficient means by which to manage their cadastral data, County officials determined that they needed to migrate their data from their existing GeoMedia platform over to an ESRI®−based solution. They were also in search of a way to keep the precision offered by COGO dimensions while at the same time positioning themselves to take full advantage of the power of data analysis afforded by GIS. With these objectives in mind, Davis County selected The Sidwell Company as its provider of choice for this important GIS enhancement project.
As part of this project, Sidwell will perform a land records workflow analysis for the County, which will identify any potential bottlenecks or inefficiencies in their current cadastral maintenance processes, and reconfigure their workflow to take advantage of the benefits to be realized by working with the tagged data model. The County has also selected the Parcel Builder™ software suite from Sidwell as their parcel maintenance solution. Parcel Builder, developed by Sidwell, runs on ArcGIS® 9.3.1 software from GIS industry leader ESRI. The Parcel Builder suite consists of four modules: PB-Administrator™, for tracking and maintenance of land parcel numbers; PB-MapEditor™, a set of tools for the creation and maintenance of GIS data; PB-MapViewer™, a data deployment tool that allows for wide-spread viewing and analysis; and PB-MapPlotter™, for the creation of high-quality hard copy cadastral maps.
Davis County will realize numerous benefits with this project. With the application of the tagged data model geodatabase and a condominium data model designed specifically to meet the needs of Davis County, they will be able to efficiently manage all condominium-related data, which they had not been able to do effectively in the past. They will also be able to improve their workflows, easily share data and streamline its management and transfer between the offices of the Surveyor/Recorder and the County’s GIS Department.
