The People of Sidwell
In past newsletters, I’ve written to you about how we are continually investing in our technology, products, solutions and strategic alliances in order to offer you the best possible services. Those things are very important and will remain our focus in the coming months and years. However, in this issue I have decided to write about something even more important – our people! After all, every Sidwell accomplishment and success story is rooted in the good work of our outstanding staff.
Let’s start with some statistics. Our employees have worked an average of 18 years at Sidwell, and that doesn’t include the years our staff worked in the industry prior to joining our team. Our production staff averages 21 years, with the managers in that area averaging 34 years of experience. Our technical team, which includes developers, analysts, project managers and support staff, averages 16 years at Sidwell. Our business development team averages 15 years of service. Finally, our administrative and accounting staff averages 25 years. Beyond experience, our staff possess a wide range of talents and areas of expertise. Several staff members hold advanced degrees in computer science, mathematics, geography and related fields and several of them possess professional designations such as GISP (GIS Professional), CP (Certified Photogrammetrist) and CMS (Cadastral Mapping Specialist).
Needless to say, I work with some very dedicated and talented people. That level of experience allows us to adapt to change and implement new processes and technologies more readily than our competitors. I think a part of why our staff retention is so extraordinary and unusual for our industry is rooted in the fact that Sidwell is 100% employeeowned. That ownership model fosters an incredibly collaborative culture and work environment. Our staff care a great deal about their company and understand that our success starts with providing excellent customer support and delivering outstanding products and services.
