Recently, Sidwell and Accela have jointly engaged many agencies with the Civic Platform. Our clients and industry have noticed the growing trend to embrace cloud technology, resulting in little to no investment in hardware. Accela’s Platform utilizes this cloud technology through the Civic Cloud, and their best practice templates to provide a state-of-the-art, scalable, and easily deployable solution for our clients. With a monthly per-user subscription, clients receive access to the full suite of Accela solutions. This allows an organization to grow their enterprise solution over time by implementing a few modules at start up and bringing other departments on at a later date, all at the same monthly subscription fee.
Accela has spent the past 30 years building their understanding of the demands and needs of local governments and their workflows. As a result, they have developed their best practice templates (BPTs) for local government. Organizations can now hit the ground running with these templates designed to streamline the deployment of land, asset, and license management workflows.
Recent Sidwell engagements have seen our clients express interest in these BPTs and, in particular, the permitting and field inspection modules to deliver a full end-to-end solution. Accela permitting allows a citizen to apply for a permit online and pay their fee. The permit is then processed by the local government entity, an inspector can bring permit information and GIS data to the field with a mobile device, a permit can be signed and resulted while in the field, and the whole process can be tracked by the citizen online.
